Description

This one-of-a-kind antique Qashqai rug is made from 100% wool and features two large stepped medallions set against a deep, richly patterned field. Small geometric forms, stylized animals, plants, and protective symbols are scattered throughout, giving the design a lively, almost hand-drawn quality. A bold geometric border frames the composition and adds to its strong tribal character.

Qashqai rugs were woven by tribeswomen of the Qashqai confederacy in the Fars region of southern Iran, where weaving traditions were passed down through generations. Rather than following a rigid pattern, each weaver added personal details inspired by daily life, nature, and family traditions, making every rug unique. Its age, expressive drawing, and richly layered design give this piece a rare sense of history and individuality.
